Car buyers alert: Maruti Suzuki to raise prices by up to Rs 30,000 from June; check what changes

Car buyers will have to pay more from next month as Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday announced a price increase of up to Rs 30,000 across its vehicle portfolio from June 2026, citing inflationary pressures and a persistently adverse cost environment, PTI reported. In a regulatory filing, the country’s largest carmaker said the exact increase would vary across models. The company said it had been taking measures over the past few months to minimise the impact of rising costs.“For the past few months, the company has been making continuous efforts to mitigate the cost impact to the extent possible through cost reduction measures,” Maruti Suzuki India said. However, the company added that sustained cost pressures had made a price revision necessary.“With inflationary pressures now at elevated levels and the adverse cost environment persisting, the company has to pass on a portion of the increased costs to the market, while continuing to ensure that the impact on customers is kept to the minimum extent possible,” it said.Maruti Suzuki currently sells a wide range of vehicles, from the entry-level S-Presso to the premium utility vehicle Invicto, priced between Rs 3.49 lakh and Rs 28.7 lakh (ex-showroom).Company officials had recently indicated the possibility of price revisions amid rising commodity costs. In January this year, the company had introduced a price protection scheme for customers whose vehicle deliveries were delayed because of production constraints.Maruti Suzuki ended FY26 with around 1.9 lakh pending customer orders, including nearly 1.3 lakh orders in the small-car segment under the 18 per cent GST bracket.Last September, following the implementation of GST 2.0, the company had reduced prices of several entry-level models. Prices of S-Presso were cut by up to Rs 1,29,600, Alto K10 by up to Rs 1,07,600, Celerio by Rs 94,100 and Wagon-R by up to Rs 79,600, among others.
